Lovely Cat Memorial Plaque

Thursday, May 10, 2012

I had a beautiful cat named Shadow. He would roam the neighborhood at will. He lived outside and had no desire to come inside. After about a year or so, kittens started popping up every where. I called and made an appointment at the veterinarian’s office for Smokey to be neutered. I had his crate ready. I waited for him to show up to eat on the morning of the appointment.  He did not show… Very unusual. I called the office and explained his absence.  “No problem,” they said, ” just reschedule.” So I did - three times!

It turned out, Shadow was a psychic cat. Each and every time I made the appointment and waited for him to appear at the back door, he mysteriously decided he was not hungry that day. I think someone was letting the cat out of the bag! His cat memorial plaque reads, “Psychic Cat.”

I was once told, you cannot trust a horse, a dog, or a woman… I often wonder if that is true. I was completely spoiled by “Sonny,” my sister’s horse who was THE best horse for a small girl in training. He was not a “push button” horse. Sonny did what he was told, right or wrong. He would show all the mistakes the rider requested.

There is one picture of Sonny with my daughter in a red white and blue shirt, standing in front of a forest of trees with Fall colors. It was so special. I will surely use this picture as a personalized pet memorial. I hope he is around long enough for my granddaughter to ride.http://perpetualpetmemorialsblog.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

We live on a farm. We have had many animals die over the years. Until our children were born, it seemed that death of animals was a normal course of life. In our yard, we have a designated area for pet and animal burials.

In times passed, we were afraid we had forgotten the exact placement of the most recent burial site. More currently, we keep track of burial plot placement with pets burial markers. We use small Colorado river rocks, engraved with the animal’s name and date of passing. It’s more accurate than guessing and children feel better having a burial marker to remember them by.

Family Pet Memorial Urn

Thursday, April 26, 2012

It’s hard when anyone loses a pet, a true companion and family member. It’s even harder when it’s your sister and her dogs are her children.

Puffin was her third Shih Tzu. She was a birthday gift from her husband three years ago. Puffin fit in well with her sisters. She was spunky and hyper. She was always ready to play usually having a ball in her mouth.

My sister browsed for a pet memorial urn on my web site. I know she will find the perfect piece. I hope it brings comfort in the years to come.

In visiting our favorite antiques store, there was a new section fenced in on the side of the building. They had added the largest collection of garden sculptures in the area. We looked at each other with impish grins and both had the same idea, “Let’s redo the patio and add one of these!”

We discussed adding a bird bath, garden bench, garden gnomes and lions to guard the gate. We selected a personalized garden bench. It is the perfect compliment to our garden.

Simple Wooden Photo Tower Urns

Thursday, April 5, 2012

I had the honor of receiving a picture of a completed product for a client’s King Charles Spaniel, Wilber. He who passed away not too long ago. It was my honor to be chosen to create this beautiful memorial for them.  I say “honor,” because there are many creative companies out there and just as many designs.

One of things I like best about the Wooden Photo Tower Pet Urns is they can be personalized with a favorite picture of your pet. You may choose from vertical or horizontal designs. There are also three types of wood available to pick from.

One thing is for sure, these aren’t simple shoe-boxes! If you cannot find one to suit your taste and pocket, just ask! We’ll be glad to help design one for you.

Our neighborhood association has an annual pot-luck village meeting. The rest of the year we all receive emails or an occasional newsletter. l opened the most recent newsletter from our homeowners society. Expecting to read about the latest neighborhood happenings: moving out; moving in, deaths, foreclosures, yard sales… there is always something interesting to read.

The latest version did not disappoint me. Inside was an insert listing the most recent neighborhood crimes. The most bizarre incident was the theft of personalized pet memorials.

Our little Angel is growing so fast. I am thankful my stepmother Cheryl fought the cancer and lived long enough to see our beautiful gift from God. They only had a short time together. One beautiful lady born and one beautiful lady taken away. Cheryl’s ashes are spread under the pear tree where the dogs like to lay when they are outside.

While visiting that first time, one of the dogs formed a special bond with the baby. Bandit is a full blooded Alaskan Malamute.  My dad and Cheryl took him in when a friend moved away. When Bandit leaves this world, I don’t think Cheryl would mind sharing her place for all eternity with a beautiful selection from the Absolute Black Granite Pet Headstones and Monuments. Some are Majestic, just like Bandit!

Perfect Rainbow Bridge Poem

Saturday, March 31, 2012

For friends that have no children, pets ARE their children. My sister has three Shih Tzus. She bathes them daily and cuddles them afterwards. She caters to their every whim. Aside from her husband, losing one of them would be one of the most devastating events she will experience.

I was discussing with a friend  about the passing of their family dog . She and her family had outside hunting dogs and were as far removed from them as my sister was attached to hers. We talked about the differences between the two extremes for a bit. A neighbor of hers had lost her “family” companion earlier last month. She told me I should look up The Rainbow Bridge Poem. No one knows who really wrote it, but it has become a comfort to many who grieve the loss of their pets. What a touching and appropriate sentiment for those who have lost a pet.

Sonny was not a “push button” horse. He performed as he was instructed to perform, right or wrong. He would show all the mistakes the rider requested.
